Miami Township Division of Fire/EMS – Miamisburg, Ohio
Miami Township Fire Department has been a client of MobileTEK’s for the past 4 years. In 2008 they bought several Panasonic Toughbooks which were mounted in their ambulances, fire trucks and staff cars. When a paramedic or EMS technician gets dispatched on a scene they begin to enter the appropriate information into their laptop as they are en route and they continue to do so when they arrive on scene. When they get to the hospital, they connect their Toughbook to the hospital printers typically by using the Bluetooth capabilities built into the Toughbook to print their reports. When they arrive back at the station they simply synchronize the data on their Toughbook from the incident with their main server. Prior to getting Toughbooks, information would have to be captured on paper during each run and entered into a computer at their station afterwards. This process took approximately 1 hour per run where now it takes 15 minutes. The Panasonic Toughbooks are excellent at handling very adverse conditions common to the Fire and EMS operations at Miami Township. According to Lt Dale Fahrney, MobileTEK Consulting made a recommendation that completely met their needs. Said Fahrney, “MobileTEK stands behind what they sell. You don’t see that very much today”
