Parma Police Department – Parma, Ohio
The Parma Police Department became a client of MobileTEK’s in 2005. In order to handle the many calls they receive, Parma Police purchased 24 Panasonic Toughbooks each of which has been mounted in their police cruisers. Prior to using this equipment, it was very difficult for the police officers of Parma Police to get needed information when they doing traffic stops or apprehending suspects. This caused the officers to handle fewer calls and be less efficient. By using the Toughbooks connected to the LEADS and CRIS criminal records network, officers can now access this information directly from their cruisers much quicker than before. This has allowed Parma Police to handle a far greater number of calls, thus providing improved protection for their community. In addition officers can now retrieve photographs of suspects from the Toughbooks in their vehicles as well. In the entire time that Parma Police has used Toughbooks they have only had to send them back for repair once and they had the fixed laptop back within two business days. According to Officer Steve Worthington, the durability of the Toughbooks has practically eliminated the down time and interruption of service that the officers had experienced.
